Have you googled yourself lately?

In February of 2014 during Facebook's 10th year birthday they already have 1.23 billion users... So technically I, Minnie Jumaquio is just one of those 1.23 billion FB users who owns a piece of "land" in the digital world.

So what am I driving at? I'll ask again do you google yourself? Do you think "goggling yourself" is a form of narcissism? (just don't do it every 5 minutes LOL) In my honest opinion - I think NOT.

Googling is good because you'll know how people perceive your online presence. But does it matter? Of course! Specially if your a professional person (OR ABOUT TO BE ONE), and you perform business, anything posted by you, can affect your credibility, your brand and of course your over all presence.  You don't have to be perfect ok? The reason why you have to be careful in anything you put out there is because we are of course live in a dynamic world called world wide web so basically you can influence a lot of people (young or old) to what your saying - good or bad. So, its best to choose your words wisely.
If you think you don't exist, think again. Do you know that every post you made in FB, instagram and other social networks/ forums can be traced back to you? Whatever you "shared" "liked" and "commented on" can be associated to you (scary huh?!). And regardless of your privacy setting, majority of employers also resort to background checking digitally, so if you did something stupid - its like 95% they will know about it.
So mind your online sharing habits and "think before you click"

I remember, back in the day (pre modem days) my mom always used to say to me: "protect your name", when Sh!@# hits the fan and you have a good name "you can always - can make a good comeback". And when you associate yourself with good things, and DO GOOD deeds, then you're fine.

I guess despite the huge difference of our internet speed. From dial-up modems to cable internet- or no speed at all (as in decades ago) her words are still relevant and constantly radiates in my core.
Take my mom's word for it. Google yourself. Protect and build your name.
Have you seen what you've done lately? What's new? Google it!  I have :)
