MY PHOBIA : PUBLIC SPEAKING

5/23/2014

March 19 at around 9am  i received a call from "Jonathan". It wasn't new to me to receive phone calls from "unknown" number since I entertain a lot of inquiries about Snug-a-hug all the time. So there I was talking to "Jonathan", what came afterwards was a blur that prompted me to say "can i give you answer later today after lunch?" My next step is to talk to my husband and sisters to know what they have to say.  They we're all excited and told me "to go for it".

So what's  the commotion all about? I received an invitation for a TV guesting for Goodmorning club of ABC5!  The invitation came the day before the slot was given to me. Barely 24hrs to prepare myself to face my greatest phobia of all- PUBLIC SPEAKING!

After getting the cheat code the same day as the invitation  (a.k.a basic question Miss Cristine Babao will ask me) I think i didnt have the luxury of time to get nervous the day before- because what I have in mind is "I have nothing to wear!" YES, ladies and gentlemen i too have the sickness of every woman in the planet- with a closet full of clothes - I STILL HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR.  So off  I went to the nearest mall with my fashion consultant/ daughter Nina. (She's an 11yo with a good sense of style).

It took the rest of the day to scout for a decent dress and shoes for the TV appearance :) and the whole night to fix what we have to bring for the guesting, and the rest of hours in between the appointed time was spent being rattled and praying not to "suck!" during the interview/segment. I only texted those people who would love me even if I make a fool out of myself during the guesting. No announcement on FB, IG  or whatever because I'm overwhelmed.  Sleep wasn't on my mind that night but as the hours, minutes and seconds passed by- it was time. It helps that my make-up finished only a few minutes before the segment so i didn't really get to see what was happening before hand. I was in the zone. I had an alone time in the make-up room  (apparently it was Patrick Paez's office)  with a very quiet make-up artist who honored my moment of peace.

While I'm being dolled-up My hubby, Jason was in charge of setting up our products on stage for the segment and keeping me in check. Nina of course was beside me giving me the thumbs up. Im not sure if my hands are freezing because I'm nervous or the cold  temperature of the studio did just that for me. My jaw was hurting as well, again  I'm not sure if its because of smiling or from the cold temperature.

I'm simply running on coffee and adrenalin,
but I knew everything about Snug-a-hug by heart
so why would
I worry right?

"Jonathan" was very accommodating, he always checks up on me and doing the time check. The lapel mic was attached and then I'm off. There was no introduction made to me and Miss Cristine Babao but she was sunny and warm, we just went on with the interview. It was pleasant. It was the longest 7-8 blurry minutes of my life. Im not aware what we talked about, (maybe because i'm simply running on coffee and adrenalin) but i knew everything about Snug-a-hug by heart so why would I worry right?

Over all the experience was great! It helps a lot to have my cheering squad beside me the whole time (and i was armed with a prayer brigade c/o my family). I know "public speaking" is not my greatest "strength" but opportunity like this - you just can't simply let go.
Carpe Diem - Seize the Day!

The segment host Ms. Cristine Babao (a.k.a. Mamu Tin) is known to be cheerful. I'm so thankful she was very easy with the interview. The Morning girls even chimed in during the segment (Ms. Grace Lee and Ms. Cheryl Cosim).

It was definitely a definitive milestone for Snug-a-hug and Udon. Imagine! First TV appearance and a launch of my latest baby UDON on TV!

Product development is slow-growing passion for me. And seeing how people appreciate my products  give me such an accomplishment! A testament that we don't  have to depend on American brands for quality products or be at the mercy of China made products. - LETS SUPPORT FILIPINO MADE PRODUCTS!
